Short answer

Give the AI tool your product facts and say who the product is for. Ask for a short draft that uses only those facts. Check sizes, materials, care details, and claims before adding the text to your shop.

Before you start

Gather facts from your product records. List what it is, what it is made of, its size, how it is used, and any limits. Leave out facts you cannot support. Do not ask the tool to invent a selling point.

1. List what you know

Start a chat in ChatGPT or another tool you use. Paste a clean list of product facts. Keep supplier secrets and customer details out.

2. Describe the buyer and place

Say who will read the description and whether it is for a shop page, a market sign, or a short listing. Set a length that fits.

3. Ask for a plain draft

Request a clear opening, useful details, and care notes only if you have them. Tell it to leave out claims such as “best” or “guaranteed” unless you supplied proof.

4. Check and edit before posting

Compare each claim with your records and the item itself. Check any rules that apply to your product or marketplace. Add the checked text yourself.

What the screen might look like

Example screen, described in words: a draft opens with what the product is, followed by a short details list. A missing care detail is shown as a question for the seller. This is an example draft, not a live shop listing.

A simple example

Copy this request into the chat. Replace the words in [brackets] with your own details before you send it.

You might type

Write a short product description for [product] for [buyer]. Use only these facts: [materials, size, use, care details]. Put the most useful detail first. Use plain words. Do not invent reviews, benefits, safety claims, delivery promises, or facts. Mark anything you need to ask me.

What to look for

  • Every product claim comes from your facts.
  • A buyer can find the size, material, and use.
  • No promise about results or delivery has been added.

Try this

Copy this prompt

Make the opening clearer for [buyer]. Keep every fact unchanged. Remove sales words such as “amazing.” Show any detail a buyer might still need to ask about.

Save the checked description with your product notes. Update it if the product changes.

Common mistakes

  • Using only a product nameThe tool may fill gaps. Provide the facts you want it to use.
  • Allowing made-up benefitsA smooth claim can still be false. Check each one.
  • Copying a rival’s listingUse your own product facts and wording instead.
