Prepare better questions about a service agreement

Written for small business owners. No AI experience needed.

A simpler explanation can help you prepare for a conversation. It does not tell you whether an agreement is fair, valid, or safe to sign.

Start here

  1. Keep the original. Choose a short passage and remove names, addresses, signatures, private prices, and account details.
  2. Ask what the passage says and what is unclear. Keep the explanation beside the original.
  3. Ask the other party or a qualified adviser to confirm meaning before you sign or act.

Three prompts you can use

Copy a prompt into your chat tool and replace the [blanks]. Check each reply before using it.

1. Make a first draft

Explain this short contract passage in plain words: [text with private details removed]. Separate stated duties, stated dates, and unclear terms. Do not judge whether it is legal or tell me to sign. Do not fill gaps from assumptions.

2. Make it fit your life

Turn the unclear terms into questions for the other party or a qualified adviser. Ask where each answer is written in the agreement.

3. Check before you use it

Check your summary against the exact passage. Flag any meaning you inferred. Remind me which surrounding sections may need a human review; do not guess what those sections say.

Mistake most beginners make

Treating a plain-language summary as a substitute for the actual agreement or legal advice.

One last check

Do not paste confidential terms you are not allowed to share. Keep the original and get suitable advice before making a legal decision.
